Fifteen students in Penn College’s concrete science technology major were among the close to 58,000 who recently attended World of Concrete, an international trade show that encompasses 700,000 square feet inside and outside the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The business and industry professionals in Penn College’s Workforce Development are finalizing a full fall semester of networking and promoting their many services and program areas. Team members have engaged in a number of events, including Schaedler Yesco’s Tech School Expo in Pittsburgh, the MANTEC Smart Manufacturing Conference in York, Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center’s Manufacturing Day in Wilkes-Barre, and the Manufacturers’ Association Expo in York.
Penn College's 2023-24 Impact Report — titled "Moving the Mission Forward" — is available online. The report gives a glimpse of the opportunities realized at Penn College in 2023-24, thanks to the efforts of many. API (the American Petroleum Institute) has donated access to its standards for industry best practices to Pennsylvania College of Technology for use in the curriculums of various academic programs in the college’s School of Engineering Technologies. Representatives of API were on campus in Penn College’s welding lab in the Lycoming Engines Metal Trades Center on Aug. 28 to formally present the standards.
A new “ingredient” was added to the brewing & fermentation science capstone with the addition of an informal tasting session in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant and the major’s lab, both located in the Hager Lifelong Education Center at Penn College. Climatec LLC has established a $2,000 annual scholarship that will give students the opportunity to begin or advance their education in building technologies. A Corporate Tomorrow Maker, Climatec is the largest privately owned building technologies provider in the nation.
The largest U.S.-based manufacturer of industry-leading drying, conveying and complete materials-handling systems for the plastics industry has extended its commitment to Pennsylvania College of Technology. Novatec Inc. renewed its entrustment agreement with Penn College for equipment used in the school’s renowned polymer engineering program.
Pennsylvania College of Technology collision repair students are benefiting from the latest contribution from the Collision Repair Education Foundation. Through CREF, the college received a 2023 Benchmark in-kind grant of an automotive paint spray gun from Fuji Spray, a leader in the spray paint industry.
